I have been wondering the exact same thing...The interplay site has been down for like years and I think BIS died!
I think what is left of BIS is now Obsidian Entertainment...But what the hell happened to Interplay?!
EDIT: Here is what it says on Gamespot.com:
The third installment of Black Isle's sci-fi role-playing series--code-named "Van Buren"--died along with its developer.
NO!
It also says that Berthesda is developing and publishing it...It looks like they took over.
Still; what happened to BIS and Interplay?
