Did you encounter any monks (apart from the Amkethrans, of course) anywhere during the game?
I tried to create a monk once, but I got confused by the description. It says that monks are best at fighting without weapons, right? Is it true that I'm better off dropping a +4 sword and using my bare hands (without wearing heavy armor)? I couldn't really track down the scores and penalties and stuff, so finally I gave it up and played a mage (which I'm very good at, btw ). Could you pls clear it up for me? |
I think there's a monk in Maer'Var guild, 2nd floor near the Lock Picking Training Ground. A monk can do great damages with her bare hands, but can also be a nice warrior with a good (Thief) weapon such as a Scimitar, a Katana, a Long Sword or a Short Swords.
Monks can deal up to 1-20 damages from their hands and they gain alot of AC, Speed and Damage Bonus with levels. A monk will be a little weak at low-level, but will be stronger by the end. My first character in BG2 was a monk, and it really worth trying. Train yourself and see if your best with or without a weapon. Weapons can have great abilities (Such as Negative Plane Protection, Immunities to Hold/Mind attacks, etc.).
