| New faces, please. I loved running with the BG1&2 NPCs, but if the story is to be new, I would rather it really be new. Unless there is a particular plot device that absolutely hinges on the reuse of an old character, I like to see characters remain in the stories that feature them. Few things annoy me more than seeing spurious repeat characters make integral reappearances in books, movies, etc. It's as though the authors are either unable to create new, interesting characters, or want to somehow "relive" the old experience again and again, and can't let it go (not very healthy, psychologically...). If you want a quick cameo appearance of an old "friend", that is one thing. Fortunately, we already know what happens to all of the playable NPCs at the conclusion of BG2, so the likelihood of any major reuse is slim. |
