| Another point: the visual field for error is rather small. If the mushroom underneath the flask isn't highlighted, you won't get a potion. That's even if the flask is right over the mushroom.
Note that in some cases, only part of a mushroom patch will highlight. That means more than one flask of the size you're currently using can be made into potions on the present patch.
