| Moonlight on the Bayou (Character Sheets) Dolores Peltier,
An abomination born of an abomination. The only daughter of Julienne Pelteir, a Creole aberration known for his Voodoo prowess and pale green eyes. The great grandson of Luis Dom Peltier, Southern Planter aristocracy and a young slave girl whose name no one recalls.
Dolores had inherited her father’s long black lashes and ebony curls. Her form was slender and graceful. It seemed she would veritably glide along rather than walk. With milk pale skin and green eyes so light they often appeared colorless, the young woman appeared more akin to a specter than a debutant.
She was born to an indigent whore whom Julienne kept in the Irish Quarter of New Orleans. Normally a bastard child of her situation would never have come into the ‘family’, but Julienne was one to make exceptions. He did not trouble himself too much to keep up with the child’s mother. Once she was too large for sport, he scarcely came to call.
The money stopped, and conditions fell dire. He did not see the child until she was eight days old when her incessant screaming alerted neighbors that the mother had died of childbed fever. The only clue to the identity of either the child or the mother was a hand-scrawled note on the cluttered bedside table. The authorities contacted Peltier who came to inspect the child.
It would have been easy for him to dismiss the situation out of hand. His families money had bought more than a little influence over the years. The child really didn’t resemble him so much that there was no question, but from the minute he looked into those pale green eyes his heart was forever lost.
It would be years before he realized what else his daughter had inherited.
