IMHO Drunken Mudcrab and Scamp is quite enough. I added area effect arrows, too, not for this reason, though, altogether there's one more merchant with 8k cash. There are several original merchants having funds enough already, and i do not sell Ebony and Daedric for most part. Anyway, there's enough Dwarven and Glass things to make you rich even not considering selling soulgems (what together with alchemy are my main source of income while the loot still is generally Silver and belowl).
Regarding skills i use money either to get up too low skill at the start (say, Long Blade from 5) or to round up a level if i feel i'm wasting resources (say, i already have 5 points in Strenght and futher whacking with longblade or hammer might be more profitable at next level). In fact i do not care about fast leveling. Some first levels i use to pay close attention to Endurance, and at 6x or 7th i start putting a point into Luck at
every level. If you're going to have good Luck

you should take care not to raise other attributes and maj./min. skills too fast.
