The difference is, as far as I can see, it is a bit more related to history than CIV series. In CIV, you don't really follow history (how can Babyronians meet Americans, and fight against Russians, for example ). I don't think it is the case in the Europa Universalis, as it is strictly in Europe in the Middle Ages.
As a history person, this is really peaking my interest in the game...
BTW-sorry about the civ question, it was a question that was nagging me.
