I'm quite sure it's something to do with Norton's programmes AND Windows. Having said that, more RAM makes sense, as I did get a few messages "the resources are dangerously low", even before this crash happned.</STRONG>

I have windows ME and I have not had any problems since, I installed it. It has a built in crashguard, you might want to look into the Windows ME addition. If you do, just get the upgrade. You do not need to buy the full version, the upgrade has the full version on it and it is cheaper.
But, you might want to uninstall the system works and then reinstall just the anti-virus. Then see how that works. But make sure you back up what ever you are working on.
And if you are still having the problem, you might want to upgrade to Win ME.
