If you compare it to the likes of the Half-Life series and FEAR to name a few, it pales in comparison with both of them.
As for Zenimax acquisition of id, I certainly hope that they don't force it to create sub-standard shooters so easy that even the average grandparent can play them. If that happens, I certainly won't be buying any of their products.
