I accidently read this thread... I want to warn that, in order to get Loghaire to join you, you'll need an intelligence score of at least 14 before you talk to his son (in fact that is required to trigger the "stone and shape" dialogue option. If your intelligence is lower, increase it with a potion (those potions are sold in Ashburry, but I don't remember their name).

P.S. Tell me about those corrupted savegames I've started the game about 14 times, but finished it only once due to them!
