CHAPTER ONE

What are the roots that clutch, what branches grow
Out of this stony rubbish? Son of man,
You cannot say, or guess, for you know only

QUESTS AVAILABLE

Find Brotherhood Paladins (Quest Automatically Given): You're supposed to meet a group of Brotherhood paladins somewhere in this shit-hole town. Ask the townspeople where you can find your comrades.

Kill Drunken Raiders (Quest Given by Ruby): The townspeople are too scared to talk to you. Maybe you should ease their minds by beating the shit out of the raiders causing trouble in the bar.

Kill Warehouse Radscorpions (Quest Given by Mayor Richard): The mayor can tell you something about the Brotherhood paladins, but you need to kill all of the Radscorpions in the warehouse first.


RUBY

Ruby is Carbon's fast-talking prostitute. Speaking to her gets you your first side quest - to eliminate the drunken Raiders that are busting up the bar. For ten caps, you can also indulge in her "services", regardless of whether you are male or female.


BAR

After you get the Raider quest from Ruby, the bar will be blinking on your mini-map. Head there and get ready to get down to business.


VIDYA

The town doctor is standing near the bar. She will heal you for no charge. She will also give you some medical supplies if you ask nicely, which you can sell to Jesse, the trader. When you've defeated the Raider Matron, she'll give you 100 caps and another 600 experience points. Unfortunately, she doesn't have any information about the Ghoul city.


MAYOR RICHARD

The mayor immediately seems shady. He won't give you much info until you clean out the warehouse, but you were planning on doing that anyway, right? When you're finished with the warehouse, you're awarded 200 experience points when you talk to the mayor, plus he tells you that the Brotherhood soldiers went to the crater on the edge of town and gives you the key that operates the elevator leading into its depths.


WAREHOUSE

The warehouse is overrun by Radscorpions, and Mayor Richard will ask you to exterminate them. Later on, after you get back from the crater, the townspeople will be hiding inside the warehouse. At that point, you won't be able to enter it until you kill all the Raiders.


JESSE

Jesse is the local trader. He has some decent items to spend your caps on. If you cussed out the mayor, he'll give you a discount on your purchases. He'll also give you 50 caps if you snagged the medical supplies inside the warehouse.


ELEVATOR

When you are ready to investigate the crater, take the elevator near the mayor.
