focus on curses and other debilitating effects. In pursuit of an enlightened state of
being, would-be Priestesses have been known to inflict grievous wounds unto
themselves to be purified by pain, purging the superfluous thoughts from their
mind and forging a bond with the Shadows of Khyber. Those who succeed live on
as Priestesses, although tainted by the shadows that saved them from imminent
death. Those who fail are overwhelmed by the shadows of the deep, and live on
as apparitions, mere shades of their former selves.
