Broken Valley Village Overview

Did we miss anything in this section? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

- Overview

After completing the tutorial in Farglow, you'll be going with Rhode and the others to chase a Dragon that's last been spotted in Broken Valley. Besides listing important places, this page contains all the useful mindreading targets as well(the ones that will give you rewards or reveal secrets).

1 - Barracks

Barracks is the location where Rhode will go right in the beginning of your adventure in Broken Valley. You'll also meet captain Rodney in there, who gives the quest A Hunting We Shall Go and also helps with some other quests.

If you decide to put Peavey in jail for his crime during the quest High and Dry, you can mindread him during his stay in the cell and learn about the hidden stash he has at the first waypoint shrine (the one near the starting location, north of the town, marked by W).

Louis starts the quest Into the Bandit's Den. Rhode right beside him will put some progress into your main quest Chasing the Dragon.

2 - Keane

Keane is the guard involved in the quest For a Pound of Flesh. If you decide to side with him during that quest, he'll give you the password to Locke's Cart (#5).

3 - Tavern

Taverns as usual have a rather lively atmosphere. You'll find several important people inside after you've dealt with the quest Band of Brutes. At first, there will be Barmaid Elsa and Tim, who give the aforementioned quest. Tim can be mindread so that he further reduces the prices and reveals information about a sack of gold hidden near the Chapel in the town (#6). Stan, who can be found in the aree after finishing that quest, will also share some information about a hidden stash in the miller's cellar and that the key to it is in the pot nearby (#10).

There's also a small secret to be uncovered in the tavern. It revolves around a set of strange volumes. The first one is found on the top floor and you'll need lockpicking to bypass the door to that room. Once you read it, you'll find Strange Volumes II right at the barkeeper's table. The final clue sends you to the same room where Brave Sir Robin is. Pick the third volume from the stack of books and finally get the skillbook from the fireplace on the lower floor.

Then you'll meet Doctor Needleman in his room. He's a trader in potions and some rare items. He's also crafted himself a copper helmet which makes him immune to mindreading.

Brave Sir Robin stands on the first floor, overlooking the guests' area. He starts the quest The Greater Hunter. Mindreading him will reveal the password for the warehouse : "rats". Nearby you'll also meet David, a deserter from the army. Mindreading him starts the quest The Fugitive.

Locke, the merchant on the bottom floor can also be mindread to reduce his prices. He also starts the quest For a Pound of Flesh.

Ollie is related to the main quest Chasing the Dragon. He has an interesting piece of information to share on that topic.

4 - Elisabeth

Elisabeth is the soldier indirectly involved in the quests Feast or Famine and Saving the Bacon.

5 - Locke's Cart

In order to loot this cart, you'll need to know the password to it. You can obtain it in two ways, either from Keane by siding with him during the quest For a Pound of Flesh or by simply mindreading the cart. There are a few useful items inside.

6 - Lamotte

Merchant Lamotte sells a lot of interesting items, most notably two malachite gems which are needed for the best enchants in the game, so get those and save them up for later. Initially, they cost 2000 gold each, but you can mindread Lamotte and have him reduce the price to 1500 gold each.

7 - Chapel Area

Outside the chapel, you'll find Romon, one of the priests, who gives you the quest Lovis' Loot. Romon will also have something important to say on the topic of the sighted Dragon Knight for the quest Chasing the Dragon. Other than that, there's a trapdoor hidden near one of the walls, which is in fact Louis' Stash.

Inside the church, you'll find Arben's tomb, which is the objective of the quest Laying a Ghost to Rest. There's also a small hidden purse with a hundred gold coins, which you can learn about if you mindread Linda in the mill (#11).

8 - Folo

Folo is a farmer who gives the quest Saving the Bacon. His wife, Rose, is also involved in a quest, called Buad Blood.

9 - Derk

Derk is the blacksmith of the village. If you mindread him, you'll learn about the key that is being hidden somewhere in the stables next to the tavern (#3), that opens his cellar.

10 - Richard

Richard is the warrior who can be found patrolling around the southwestern area of the village. He has a few quests to give, Hearttaker and Feast or Famine.

He can be mindread to increase the monetary reward he gives you for the hearts during the quest Hearttaker.

11 - The Mill

The miller hides a few secrets, most notably that he's an alchemist and has a magical tree in his cellar that does alchemical transmutations. He's involved in the quest Buad Blood. There's also his daughter Linda, who can be mindread to reveal a secret purse in the chapel (#7).

Outside the mill, you'll meet Winthrop, who saw the Dragon Knight and has something to say during the quest Chasing the Dragon.

12 - Sean

Sean is also one of the people who've seen the Dragon. Talk to him during the quest Chasing the Dragon. You can also mindread him to hear a dirty joke.

13 - Jackson's Farm

On the Jackson's farm, you'll find the guards which yo'll need to dispose of in the quests Feast or Famine and Saving the Bacon. Besides them, there's Dana and Carl.

Dana gives a quest called A Private Delivery and she can be mindread to gain information about a key that's being kept atop of one of the rafters in the house. You'll have to jump on a pair of crates to reach it. There's another key in the house behind a stack of barrels. These keys open the chest located on the shelf near the door and the second key leads to the cellar.

The cellar contains a few chests and sacks with some goodies in there, including a pair of gloves. You'll also find Carl's journal. Reading it starts the quest Skeletons in the Closet. You'll also notice a lever inside the cellar at the southeastern rafter. It can be rather hard to spot, so keep looking, it looks like a metal patch. Press it and turn around. You'll notice that a chain has been lowered and there's Jackson's Cleaver hanging on it, a fantastic weapon for such low level.

14 - Quincy

You'll find a frightened guard called Quincy atop of the wooden watchtowers outside the walls. He starts the quest High and Dry.

15 - Forgotten Outpost

Entrance to the Forgotten Outpost.

16 - Burnt Chapel

This place is involved in two side quests: Buad Blood and Into the Bandit's Den. Its altar also serves as the entrance to the Secret Passage.

17 - Hjalmar

This scary blob of fire is the objective of the quest A Hunting We Shall Go.

18 - Mouse

Mouse is involved in the quest Feast or Famine.

There's also an orange lever near him that you may wish to pull. There are three more to be found later on.

19 - Old Cavern

Entrance to the Old Cavern.

20 - Old Cave

Entrance to Naberius' cave.

21 - Marius

If you still haven't finished the first two main quests, Marius and his guards will be blocking the way here to the rest of the valley.

22 - Secret Passage Exit

This trapdoor can only be opened from the inside during the quest Into the Bandit's Den.

W - Waypoint Shrines

During your adventure, you'll come across various waypoint shrines which offer teleportation to another waypoint shrine. There are only two in this area, more to be found later on.
