Courtesy of Ryan Industries, Rapture's defense system features the ability to send a wave of these mechanical mosquitos out whenever an alarm is triggered or an intruder is discovered by a security camera. When encountered, they will hover in the air above you and fire their machine gun relentlessly. They can be destroyed with your favorite firearm or plasmid, deactivated by paying a Bot Shutdown Panel, or hacked (when deactivated or under the effects of an Electro Bolt). A hacked version will defend you until destroyed.
There are five research levels that can be attained by snapping photos of Security Bots:
- Research Level 1: Increased Damage (+)
- Research Level 2: Security Expert 2
- Research Level 3: Increased Damage (++)
- Research Level 4: Hacking Security Bots is instant and automatic.
- Research Level 5: Increased Damage (+++)
