Dr. Steinman was one of Rapture's finest and most sought-after cosmetic surgeons. Once he realized the "potential" Adam had on his profession, though, things rapidly started to go downhill. No longer content with simply making a few nips and tucks, Steinman began seeking ways of expressing himself "artistically" with his work. It was this descent into insanity that led to Steinman's mutilation of many female victims, several of which can be seen when you finally meet up with the psychopath. "With Adam... the flesh becomes clay. What excuse do we have not to sculpt, and sculpt, and sculpt, until the job is done?"
Steinman possesses the key you need to unlock the Emergency Access gate leading to Neptune's Bounty, and he's not going to just hand it over to someone as "ugly" as you. Armed with a machine gun, the good doctor will be the first formidable battle you will face during your time in the underwater city.
