Elfsong Tavern
1 - LADY ALYTH ELENDARA
Before you can start exploring Baldur's Gate, you'll have a conversation with the Elfsong Tavern's jiggly bartender, Alyth Elendara. She'll tell you a little bit about the Thieves Guild wars and suggest you search the sewers. She wants you to get rid of her rat problem in the cellar in exchange for the key to the sewer. You'll need to get the key to the cellar from Ethon. When you go back to tell her that the rats are taken care of, she sends you back down after Ethon,but not before giving you some gold and the sewer key.
2 - ETHON
Ethon warns you about confronting the thieves, but if you press him he'll give you the key and a dagger.
3 - NEBBISH
Nebbish will gripe about the thieves and the fact that Alyth has cut him off. He asks you to get him a bottle of booze from the cellar. If you do, he'll give you an extra healing potion and you'll get 100 xp.
4 - BARTLEY
Bartley runs the shop in the Tavern.
5 - TO CELLAR
This door leads to the cellar.
6 - OSALA
Osala is waiting for her man. Apparently, he's a thief that's on a job recovering an orb. He's obviously under some evil influence. When you tell her he is dead (after finding his body in the crypt), you get a ring of protection and 750 xp.
7 - IPSWITCH
Ipswitch is a chatty fellow. He tells a tale about trying to visit his brother's shrine to get the medallion he was buried with.
8 - JHEREK
After you clean out the crypt, you meet Jherek, a Harper who wants you to infiltrate the guild and find out who is behind it. There's a secret door on the first level of sewers that you'll need to open to get into the thieves compound.
9 - KEAIRA
After the crypts, Keaira shows up. She's a guard for a merchant caravan that was waylaid by thieves. She wants you to recover a box of Amnish spices. You get a +1 iron shield and 500 xp for returning them to her.
