Cloakwood Mines 5

Did we miss anything in this location? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

The mine has 4 levels, each with a different purpose. The upper level is used as a mining site. The second level is used as a prison and as a storehouse. The third level is used for the forge and for the soldiers' rooms. Finally, the fourth floor is used by Davaeorn himself. He has his room, kitchen, library and even a shrine in there.

1- ROOM:

Guard: In this room you'll meet Davaeorn's personal bodyguard. He will ask you why you're there and at the end of the dialog you'll have to fight him. He is not hard to kill and you'll get 650 Exp. for doing so. He also carries a Plate Mail.

Chest: There is a Katana +1, Potion of Healing and a Potion of Cold Resistance in the chest in this room.

2- BEDROOM:

You'll find a Potion of Healing and a bit of gold in the chest near the bed.

3- DAVAEORN:

The master of the mines; he has been placed here by the regional Iron Throne leaders to supervise the activities of the mines. Naturally, he won't be very happy to see you and you'll have to fight him. He is protected by the following spells: Mirrored Image, Protection from Normal Missiles and Shield. Casting a Dispel Magic prior to the fight might help. He is a very rough cookie and he casts such things as Shadow Door, Monster Summoning and Flame Arrow(and many others…). He will teleport all over the place and if you don't kill him quickly he might be the one killing you! Once it's done, you get 6000 Exp. and you can loot him of some very good treasures: Robe of the Evil Archmagi, Bracers of Defense AC6, Traveler's Robe, Key to River Plug, 3 letters and the following scrolls: Grease, Shield, Protection from Evil and Protection from Petrification. This will also end Chapter 4.

Note: The first traps in the corridor leading to Davaeorn trigger the appearance of Battle Horrors, tough monsters which are really difficult to fight. They require magic to be destroyed efficiently and summoning some monsters to hold them back might be a good idea. What should be even better for you is to remove the traps leading to Davaeorn's room so that the Battle Horrors don't appear.

Chest: There is a chest in this room containing 308 gp.

4- LIBRARY 1:

There is a Detect Invisibility scroll on one of the shelves.

5- KITCHEN:

There are some treasures in the chest: Potion of Explosions, Potion of Firebreath, Potion of Master Thievery and a Greenstone Ring.

6- BEDROOM:

There is a Wand of Fear in the chest by the bed. You need a good amount of skill in Pick Locks to open this chest.

7- LIBRARY 2:

Stephan: He is Davaeorn's apprentice. He thinks that by giving you some information it will save his life. Go ahead and ask him all you need to know. He tells you quite a bit about the Iron Throne and their plans. He also tells you where their headquarters are and that the regional organization has 3 leaders, but he doesn't know their names. At the end you can either let him go or kill him (he's evil after all…) for 12 Exp.

Bookshelves: There are a few scrolls on the bookshelves: Infravision, 2 Larloch's Minor Drain, Horror and Blur.

8- STOREROOM:

There is a Mustard Jelly you'll have to kill here but it is worth it! Here's a list of the loot you can get from the chests: 1085 gp., Laeral's Tear Necklace(worth 3000 gp.!), Diamond, Moonbar Gem and 2 scrolls: Knock and Melf's Acid Arrow.
