NPC Guide - Page 3
KHALID
Gender: Male
Race: Half-Elf
Class: Fighter
Alignment: Neutral Good
Abilities: STR 15, DEX 16, CON 17, INT 12, WIS 10, CHA 9

A. Overall Abilities: 3+3+4+2+2+1= 15 (15/30)
B. Class Abilities: 3+3+4= 10 (10/15 = 20/30)
C. Fun to play: 13 (13/20)
D. Gameplay: 10 (10/15)
E. Related quest: 5 (5/5) - Investigate Nashkel Mines
F. TOTAL MARK: 63%

Comments: Even though Khalid's Class Abilities mark is rather good, he still has a major weakness: his strength. His low strength makes him a poor melee fighter and an average ranged fighter at best. He does have a good constitution, though. But more than that, there is nothing great about him: he is nervous, has an annoying voice, he is dominated by his wife(Jaheira), he has a high breaking point(starts to panick easily), etc. Even the linked quest is more because he's traveling with Jaheira than anything else. Just to end on a good note, you'll notice that he is the only fighter who is not evil-aligned in the game, meaning that he can gain mastery with his weapons.

MINSC
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Class: Ranger
Alignment: Neutral Good
Abilities: STR 18/93, DEX 15, CON 15, INT 8, WIS 6, CHA 9

A. Overall Abilities: 8+3+3+1+1+1= 17 (17/30)
B. Class Abilities: 8+3+3= 14 (14/15)
C. Fun to play: 20 (20/20)
D. Gameplay: 12 (12/15)
E. Related quest: 5 (5/5) - Save Dynaheir
F. TOTAL MARK: 68%

Comments: Minsc is certainly the funniest NPC you can find in Baldur's Gate. He has a really high strength, which is great and makes him an ideal front-liner. His dexterity and constitution are rather average, but give this mighty berserker the Gauntlets of Dexterity and he'll become a real killing machine! His strength also ensures that he can carry a lot, contrary to some other NPCs in the game. He also gives you a quest: to save Dynaheir, which is rather entertaining. Minsc is a real must for any good aligned party!

ALORA
Gender: Female
Race: Halfling
Class: Thief
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Abilities: STR 8, DEX 19, CON 12, INT 14, WIS 7, CHA 10

A. Overall Abilities: 1+6+2+2+1+1= 13 (13/30)
B. Class Abilities: 6+2= 8 (8/10 = 24/30)
C. Fun to play: 11 (11/20)
D. Gameplay: 10 (10/15)
E. Related quest: 0 (0/5)
F. TOTAL MARK: 58%

Comments: Alora is probably the worst NPC you can find in Baldur's Gate, so you might as well avoid her. Her only strong point is her dexterity, but even then her skill points went into Lockpicking and Pickpocketing, thus forcing you to take another thief in your party who can Detect/Remove Traps. Her low strength also ensures that she can only carry her own equipment and nothing else. Finally, her voice is really annoying and easily gets on your nerves. All in all, Alora is not worth the trouble. Imoen is a much better thief, as is Safana.

CORAN
Gender: Male
Race: Elf
Class: Fighter/Thief
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Abilities: STR 14, DEX 20, CON 12, INT 14, WIS 9, CHA 16

A. Overall Abilities: 2+7+2+2+1+3= 17 (17/20)
B. Class Abilities: 2+7+2= 11/15 (fighter), 7+2= 9/10 (thief), 24.5/30 (overall)
C. Fun to play: 20 (20/20)
D. Gameplay: 14 (14/15)
E. Related quests: 5 (5/5) - Hunt Wyverns/Save daughter
F. TOTAL MARK: 80.5%

Comments: Coran is probably the best NPC you can find in Baldur's Gate: he is a charmer, 2 quests are linked to him, he has infravision, he has a mega dexterity, he is a master of the bow, he gets +1 with sword and bow because of his race, etc. He is really cool to have in your party and will often compliment the ladies around… Don't make him a front liner, though. Also note that while his Stealth and Lockpicking abilities are really good, his Find Traps ability sucks!
