The Undercity

Did we miss anything in this location? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

This old area used to shelter a city which was here before Baldur’s Gate was built, so it was really built on its ruins. Nowadays, however, everything is in ruins and undead inhabit it. The only building still standing is an old Temple of Bhaal where Sarevok and his acolytes have fled. You’ll have to follow them and kill Sarevok, your half-brother. This is the final fight and will end-up Baldur’s Gate.

1- RAHVIN, GORF, CARSTON, SHALDRISSA, WUDEI AND HASEO:

This party has been hired by the Iron Thorne to hunt down Sarevok and kill him for all the damage he has done to the organization. Whatever you say they decide to fight you as well to get a little bonus. The fight is rather hard as Gorf is a big Ogre, Rahvin and Carston are archers, Shaldrissa is a mage, Wudei is a druid and Haseo is a Fighter/Mage. Your biggest threat comes from Rahvin himself, since he shoots Arrows of Detonation(2 of them, can kill most of your party!). Carston too shoots magic arrows. The mages are a bit annoying but there is nothing to report on their side. Your best bet for this fight is to stay out of their LOS and to roast them with a Wand of Fire. It’s not very exciting but you’ll need all your forces for the final fight which is coming up. Once it’s done you get 11000 Exp. and the following loot: Pearl, 2 Plate Mails, Traveler’s Robe, 2 Rings of Protection +1, Studded Leather +1, Long Sword +1and the following arrows(if you’re quick enough!): 10 of Fire, 10 of Biting, 10 of Ice, 2 of Detonation, 10 of Piercing and 20 Arrows +2.

2- TAMOKO:

If you have met her both in the Eastern and South-Western parts of Baldur’s Gate and that the dialog went well, you’ll meet Tamoko once more here. She tells you that Sarevok knows of her treachery and that she must fight you to regain his trust and attention. She also says that whatever happens she still loses: if she kills you Sarevok will go on bigger quests and if she dies, well she dies. If your PC has a high charisma you can convince her not to fight(choices: 1-3-2) and Tamoko then understands how foolish she was and warns you against Sarevok’s followers who still don’t see that he is rotten because of himself and not only because of his divine blood. You can also fight her for 5000 Exp and the following loot: Full Plate Mail +1, Flail +1 and Large Shield +1.

3- TEMPLE OF BHAAL:

And now here you are: the final fight of Baldur’s Gate! Prepare well for the fight: drink all the potions you need and cast all the protection spells you know on your party. Also take care of disarming the traps around the room before the fight begins (note: the traps in the center of the room cannot be disarmed). Summon monsters and undead (as many as you can) to hold back your enemies. Once you’re ready, go to the back of the room with one of your party members and challenge Sarevok. Then back-off to the first half of the room. There are 4 total enemies you’ll have to fight: Sarevok (fighter), Tazok (fighter), Semaj (mage) and Angelo (fighter/mage). You only need to kill Sarevok to win the game, so you might as well concentrate your efforts on him. Use the summoned monsters to hold him back and target him with missile weapons at the same time. Summon more monsters as the fight advances. Eventually Sarevok dies and you win the game. Note that killing Semaj (use Arrows of Dispelling to remove his protection spells) makes the fight easier as he is an annoying mage who casts such things as Stinking Cloud, Web, Greater Malison and Cloudkill. If you decide to kill Sarevok’s associates you get 16800 Exp. but it doesn’t really matter. They only have some minor loot on them.

N- NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

I would first like to congratulate you on passing Baldur’s Gate, one of the most exciting CRPG games produced in the past few years. The road was long but you finally made it! I also hope that you found my walkthrough useful for your adventures and that you have enjoyed reading it. I certainly enjoyed writing it! If you wish to send me any comments (positive or negative, as you wish) do not hesitate to do so. You can find my e-mail address at the top of this page.
