AR3700 (South of High Hedge)

Did we miss anything in this location? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

This region of wilderness is the home of Bassilus the evil priest of Cyric. As a result, a few skeletons can be found here and there on the map as well as the unusual ghoul. More dangerous, however, are the wolves and elite hobgoblins, who shoot poisonous arrows!

1- MELICAMP THE CHICKEN:

In reality he is the apprentice of Thalantyr and he was accidentally transformed into a chicken when he tried some of his master’s tools. You can either leave him there(evil), bring him to Thalantyr(see High Hedge for more details) or use the Spell Polymorph Other to allow him to retrieve his human form(not tested).

2- KISSIQ:

Tells you that he has encountered a talking chicken (Melicamp, location 1) to the East of here.

3- ZARGAL, MALKAX, GELTIX:

Three hobgoblins with the good old “Your money or your life!” routine. They are a bit tougher than they look, especially Zargal. Try to concentrate on him and then take down the two others(both archers). Zargal is worth a good 650 Exp. and the 2 others are worth 165 Exp. each. They have a Short Sword +2, two Composite Long Bows and other minor treasures with them.

4- BASSILUS AND HIS “FAMILY”:

This is the tough encounter of the area. You’ll have to take down Bassilus, who is more than a competent cleric. He has a low AC and casts spells such as Hold Person on your party. But first, if you don’t want to fight a horde of skeletons, you’ll have to trick Bassilus through the initial dialog. You’ll have to pretend to be his father(or mother) and then to tell him that it is he who is lying by pretending that the skeletons are his family(choices: 3-1-1). This will make him angry and the skeletons will be destroyed. After that, target Bassilus with bowmen and hope for the best. He is worth a good 975 Exp. and has a War Hammer +2 on him. Be sure to pick up his Holy Symbol and to bring it to the temple of Lathander for 5,000 gp. Leave the gauntlets however, as they are cursed.

5- ROGER:

Another messenger who warns you of the upcoming war between Baldur’s Gate and Amn.
