AR1400 (North of the Friendly Arm Inn)

Did we miss anything in this location? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

This area is used as a farmland and is also inhabited by fisherman, due to the proximity of the sea. There are some bandits around, but the main menace comes from the ankhegs: giant beasts which leave underground and strike when you less expect. They have an acidic spite which can be quite dangerous and their THACO is not bad either. You should avoid fighting them before you reach a good level.

1- AJANTIS:

A paladin from Waterdeep who has been sent to investigate the banditry problems in the region. He can join you any time. Ajantis (LG, Human Male, Paladin) is quite convenient as he is proficient with the sword and the bow. Sometimes, he also wears a Plate Mail.

2- SONNER, JEBADON AND TELMEN:

This story is rather complicated so I’ll try to resume it as clearly as possible: a priestess of the Bitch Queen Umberlee (Chaotic Evil deity of the ocean, waves and sea winds) has been asking more and more donations from the fishermen in order to allow them safe passage during their fishing travels. As a result, the fishermen allied themselves with a priest of Talos (Chaotic Evil deity of storms and destruction) in order to get rid of the priestess. They succeeded in taking her Bowl of Elemental Control but unfortunately the priestess was killed in the process. This led to the fury of Umberlee who used her priestess daughter, Tenya, to try to get her revenge. Of course, the fishermen don’t tell you all this. They only tell you that a priestess of Umberlee is preventing them from fishing and ask you to remove her. This priestess, Tenya, lives near Wyrm’s Crossing. When you go to her, she refuses to cooperate and attacks you. At some point, she stops the fight(don’t kill her too quickly!) and tells you how the fishermen stole her mother’s bowl and tortured her to death until she told them how to use the bowl. At this point, you have two choices:

Continue to work for the fishermen: Kill Tenya for 650 Exp. and some Bracers of Defense AC7. Return to the fishermen for a Flail +1 and 1000 Exp.(if you return to see the fishermen before killing Tenya, you can bargain and get 100 more gp.).

Ally yourself with Tenya: Return to see the fishermen and force them to give you the Bowl of Elemental Control. Then, kill them(no reputation penalty) and get the Flail +1. Return the bowl to Tenya for 2500 Exp. She also promises to pay you back on a future occasion, so keep this in mind while visiting the Gate.

3- ENTRANCE TO ANKHEG’S NEST

4- FARMER BRUN:

Asks you to investigate the disappearance of his son, Nathan, who went with some friends to retrieve a missing cattle. In fact, Nathan has been killed by an Ankheg and you can find his body in their lair(see that section for more details). Return the body to his father for 500 Exp. If you talk again with Brun, he tells you how miserable he is, now that he lost his son and his land, since he is too old to harvest it. You can make him accept 100 gp.(tell him that it is a burden for you to carry them) and you’ll get 1000 Exp. and +1 Reputation.

5- GERDE:

Offers you 75 gp. for killing 10 Ankhegs. If you visit the Ankheg’s Nest and clean it up, it should be enough to make her happy. NOTE: Gerde travels a lot up and down the road, so you may find her in different locations.
